Flowery Name

       My name is Yanfen Li. I am from Guangdong, which is in southern China. In Chinese, my name sounds like a poem because the name is pronounced very differently when someone pronounces it strong or softness. If they speak fast, it will be like a lightning that flashes quickly when thunder strikes. The tones sound very fast and ends softly. If they speak slowly, it will be like flowing water. It feels peaceful and warm. I like my name. My grandfather gave me this name because he had a favorite movie actress had. She was a beautiful and kind philanthropist who often helped poor children. Due to this reason, he wanted me to be a good person like her. Anyway, I love it. In addition, “Yan” “艳” means colorful, and “Fen” “芬” means flowers or fresh smell. These two words put together make me feel like I am lying down on a bed of flowers. That is a wonderful scene. Therefore, there are the reasons why I love my name.
