Story of My Name

    My name is Jiaming Huang, and I got the name from my parents. I was not named after someone. However, I do not like it because I think it is very common. In China, multiple people choose this name for their children because it has a good meaning and is simple. My parents chose the name for me because they want me to be a talented and outstanding person. In Chinese, Jia means to be better and better, and Ming means to be smart. When I think about my name, the moon comes to my mind because Ming includes the word Yue in Chinese, and Yue means moon. Although it is a nice name, I still want to change my name because I want to have a special name. However, I still haven’t decided on a new name. Additionally, I do not want to pick an English name because I want to keep my Chinese characteristic and let other people know I am a Chinese immediately. Given these points, do you guys have any suggestions for my new name?

    Hi Jiaming, maybe for you is a common name but for me you're the first person I know that has that name, and that's one of the things that I love the most about the US, that we find another different world and don't feel common.
