My Name

    I like my name because it was given to me by my grandfather. I love him even though I have never met him. He died shortly after I was born. However, My grandmother told me a lot of things about my grandfater. She said my grandfather was a soldier which was so brave in war and he was wounded a lot. He protected my country, so I am pround of him and the name he gave me. I think I can feel my grandfather's personality when I say my name in my mind. I can understand his wishes for me based on my name. Hao in Chinese means somethiing and Ying means pillar in chinese. Hao Ying means a huge pillar. I think my grandfather weanted me to be the backbone of my family. He want me to take good care of my family. My English name is Hao. Its pronunciation is similar to "how". Hao is chinese pin yin. For this reason, I use it to be my English name.
